Recent publicity helps to highlight pet hoarding in upstate N.Y.

A number of pet hoarding cases recently have been reported in upstate New York and the exposure is shedding light on hoarding, rather than the issue becoming a bigger problem, an area veterinarian said. Pets involved in hoarding cases often suffer health issues such as ear mites, untreated cancers and injuries because they are living in such poor conditions, she said.
