EHR payments could hit $1B for 2011, CMS official says

The CMS has issued $870 million in EHR incentives since Jan. 1 and is "well on track to pay out $1 billion by the end of this year," Robert Anthony of the CMS Office of E-Health Standards and Services said at Wednesday's meeting of the HIT Policy Committee. So far, 114,000 hospitals and eligible professionals have registered for incentives.
