Metadata proposal "premature" for MU 2, federal advisers say

The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics sent a letter to the ONC, saying it would be "premature" to integrate the adoption of EHR metadata in the second stage of meaningful use standards. Introducing untested standards amid competing requirements that include ICD-10 and HIPAA 5010 "would pose significant challenges and risks to the health care industry," the federal advisory body said.
