Should colleges ask applicants about their sexual orientation?

Schools such as Elmhurst College say asking applicants about their sexual orientation can help provide a more comfortable environment for LGBT members of the student body, but other universities have declined to follow suit, saying the question could cause anxiety among potential students. "We think we do project and provide a climate that is inclusive to all students. But I don't think the debate on this is over by any means," said Terrell Jones, vice provost for educational equity at Penn State.
