Longer life span, lower BMI are seen among vegetarians

Vegetarians and vegans had a longer life span, lower BMI and lower insulin resistance compared with people who eat meat, according to a study presented at the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' 2012 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo. The researchers also noted that pesco-vegetarians and semi-vegetarians showed "intermediate protection" from lifestyle diseases.
