Advanced biofuels are getting closer to the marketplace

Although the advanced biofuels industry has not grown as fast as initially predicted, the first commercial-scale plants are beginning to open, writes Bryan Walsh. For example, Novozymes and Beta Renewables just opened the world's biggest advanced biofuels plant in Italy. The plant is expected to produce more than 20 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol annually from farm residues and energy crops.
