An Australian supercomputer will be tapping groundwater for its enormous cooling needs, according to this article. The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation's nearly $76 million computer will use what CSIRO says marks a "new age in renewable energy," dispensing with conventional cooling towers for a system that amounts to "a tap flowing with cool water, year-round."
