California Gov. Brown rejects e-mail privacy measure

California Gov. Jerry Brown has rejected a bill that would have required law enforcement agencies to obtain a warrant to access e-mails and other electronic communications, saying the legislation goes beyond the federal Electronic Communications Privacy Act. The proposed requirements of the California bill "could impede ongoing criminal investigations," Brown wrote in his veto statement.
