Cognitive therapy as effective as standard care in youths with chronic abdominal pain

Dutch researchers looked at 104 7- to 18-year-olds with chronic abdominal pain and found that 60% of those who attended six weekly cognitive behavioral therapy sessions reported significant improvements or full recovery within a year, compared with 56% of patients receiving standard doctor visits. The findings were published in the journal Pediatrics.
