Nigerian e-commerce startups cater to growing demand

Nigeria's consumers are increasingly turning to fledgling online retail sites such as Jumia, which launched a year ago and now has 500 workers and 150 delivery vehicles that give shoppers the option of paying with cash or card at the time of delivery. Online startups are finding ways to flourish despite technological challenges and underdeveloped logistics networks. "A lot of people are sceptical about companies like ours, but at the same time there is a lot of demand," said Mark Essien of 5-month-old reservations site Hotels.ng
