OPEI's Kiser: Ethanol mandate has unintended effect on small-engine industry

The Renewable Fuel Standard has unintended consequences for several industries, including outdoor power equipment companies, according to this article. For example, the ethanol mandate can lead to lawn equipment failures, said Kris Kiser, president and CEO of the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute. "Our small-engine industry and products ... is sort of where the RFS meets reality. ... You're introducing fuel to the marketplace for which all of this stuff is not designed or warranted to run on," Kiser said.
