A compromise designed to raise the debt ceiling is on hold while Senate leaders watch the reaction of the stock market, and meanwhile Democrats appear to be working to drive the GOP to end future sequestration cuts as part of a deal. Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. and Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. talked Sunday about a debt-limit deal. Reid said afterward that he is "optimistic about the prospects for a positive conclusion" to the issues.
