Survey identifies gaps in disaster planning for individuals with disabilities

Individuals with disabilities face unique challenges during disasters. The United Nations reports that the majority of individuals with disabilities responding to a survey about disaster preparedness do not have plans for evacuations during emergencies. What's more, only a third of respondents reported having someone to assist them during evacuations.
