XTO Energy exec touts benefits of fracking

Hydraulic fracturing has helped energy producers tap billions of barrels of oil and natural gas that were previously inaccessible, an XTO Energy executive said in a University of Houston debate. The supplanting of coal by natural gas through the drilling technique has also helped cut greenhouse-gas emissions, said Paul Krishna, the environmental health and safety manager for XTO Energy. Krishna added that the industry must continue to improve understanding of related air-quality concerns.
