New York City implements new curriculum citywide

Some New York City educators say their new curriculum is rich and rigorous, but critics question whether the emphasis on progressive approaches rather than on highly structured, basic reading and math skills is ill-defined. The teachers union has objected to what it believes is micromanagement of minor decisions and the curriculum's "cookie-cutter" approach.
