AOL to lay off 20% of global work force

AOL was scheduled today to carry out another round of job cuts, eliminating 20% of 10,000 global positions, including 1,200 jobs in the U.S. The move, which is part of AOL's transition from a subscription-driven site to an ad-driven portal, follows a layoff of 5,000 workers in December.
