Survey: Retailers respond to faster Internet, savvy customers

About 50% of Americans now have broadband access in their homes, and a faster Internet has changed online consumer expectations and encouraged Web site designers to use fancier programs and graphics, Tracy Mullin writes. Retailers are revamping Web sites to keep up with the trends, adding such features as rollover lists in navigational areas, strategic product placements and "what's new" sections, a survey conducted by Forrester Research for reveals.
