With coordinated efforts announced by governments this week, the "tide in this crisis has turned", columnist Martin Wolf writes. He says the UK government's plan is bold, comprehensive and expensive, but it is better than the alternative -- namely, depression. As other governments follow his example, Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been a leader in keeping the financial system from meltdown, Wolf also writes.
