Report: Drug-safety statistics often confuse patients, doctors

Research statistics that illustrate risks or benefits of drugs and other medical products tend to confuse the public as well as physicians, according to a report published in Psychological Science in the Public Interest. Study authors said drugmakers often use such figures but omit crucial, related information in promoting products, and the practice could result in serious consequences.
