Expert offers tips for EHR requests for proposals, contract negotiations

When drafting a request for proposal for electronic health record solutions, there's no need to mention every preferred EHR function since most systems will support them, Rosemarie Nelson of the Medical Group Management Association said at a conference. Language stating that the buyer may defer payment for 25% of the agreement until the purchased EHR system is live for a certain period of time should be included in any contract, she advised.
