Growth rate of imaging-services usage slower since DRA approval

A study conducted by Moran Company revealed that the use of CT, MR, PET and nuclear medicine from 2007 to 2008 grew at a rate of 1.1%, slower than the 1.9% growth rate from 2006 to 2007. The findings suggest the growth rate for the use of some advanced imaging services has been slower since the implementation of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. "Policymakers must take into account the impact of the DRA and make public policy decisions based on up-to-date spending and use data," said an official from Access to Medical Imaging Coalition, which released the report.
