Math, literacy coaches are used by district to improve teaching

Teachers in an Indiana district are receiving assistance with lesson planning from 20 literacy and math coaches, who collaborate with teachers to improve teaching and learning. "It's not that the coach is the expert," said the district's math coordinator. "It's just the fact that they provide teachers a resource. They give teachers the opportunity to reflect on the teaching methods and what's working. It's colleagues coming alongside each other to help support instruction."
