German facility gets new press

A press weighing more than 13,000 tons has been installed by Saarschmiede Freiformschmiede at Volklingen, Germany, and it is capable of handling ingots of over 400 tons, according to company officials. The press can meet nearly all reactor-pressure vessels, and officials estimate that the facility can deal with Westinghouse's AP1000 reactor.
