German households to pay more for nation's switch to renewables

Germany's planned switch from nuclear power to renewable energy will raise the tax for ratepayers, prompting some politicians to call for changes in how the switchover is funded. German households next year face an increase of almost 50% in the tax they pay to shoulder the cost of the shift to renewables, according to the operators of the country's four leading grids.
