Lifestyle changes boost good cholesterol in diabetes patients

Overweight and obese type 2 diabetes patients who underwent an intensive diet-and-exercise program showed a 12% increase in total adiponectin and a nearly 10% improvement in good-cholesterol levels compared with those who did not receive the lifestyle intervention, a study found. Patients in the lifestyle intervention group also attained significant improvements in adiposity, fitness, and blood glucose and fat levels, researchers noted. The results will appear in the Journal of Lipid Research.
