Ala. launches streamlined 9-1-1 call routing system

Alabama has started using new 9-1-1 technology that reduces the number of routers used from seven to two to help ensure all calls go through and are answered, even when phone lines are down. Jason Jackson, executive director for the Alabama State 9-1-1 Board, said the system allows calls to be transferred during emergencies and will reduce costs and redundancy.
