Americans line up for popular ramen restaurants

Japanese-style ramen restaurants are on the rise in the U.S. New York City boasts 60 of them, with more on track to open as consumers line up for the popular bowls of soup and noodles, according to the Japan Foundation. "Compared to other typical Japanese cuisine, such as sushi or kaiseki ryori [a traditional multicourse dinner with a variety of dishes], ramen is reasonably priced, which has probably fueled its popularity overseas," said New York University history professor George Solt.
