Angelina Jolie's story inspires women to get genetic testing

Actress Angelina Jolie's announcement that she had had a double mastectomy followed by breast reconstruction has inspired other women to get genetic testing for cancer, says Jolie's plastic surgeon, Jay Orringer. Breast cancer patients are increasingly treated by a team of doctors that includes a plastic surgeon to help guide patients through treatment and reconstruction options, Orringer said. "I see the team approach as the patient being the captain and we as health care providers are members of that team helping her to arrive at a decision with which she’s most comfortable," he said.
