Confectioners under pressure to switch to digital traceability methods

Confectioners are being pressured by retailers to institute mobile scanning technology to trace the source of raw ingredients, says Intermec, a computing firm. While the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act does not require traceability of farm-grown ingredients, implementing the practice can help enforce consumer safety, a primary reason retailers are making the push, says Bruce Stubbs, director of industry marketing at Intermec.
