Cosmetic procedures can help improve breast cancer survivors' self-image

The most common reason breast cancer patients gave for seeking plastic surgery beyond breast reconstruction was to improve their self-image, according to a survey presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Twenty-eight percent of the survey respondents said unrelated cosmetic surgery did not change their self-image, but the other respondents did report a confidence boost.
