Could a repeal of the medical device tax be on the table?

The White House might be open to a repeal of the Affordable Care Act's medical device tax, with President Barack Obama stating that it is "not part of the core program." The tax has long been a topic of discussion in part because neither party is particularly supportive of the measure, but it's unclear whether a repeal will be part of any deal to end the government shutdown and deal with the debt ceiling.
