EU proposal threatens IASB independence, chairman says

Hans Hoogervorst, chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board, says the European Parliament is attempting to use its funding authority to undercut the board's independence. Parliament wants to insert the word "prudence" in IASB guidance to pressure accountants to be cautious when evaluating bank losses.
