Juniper confronts SDN, upgrades MX router line capacity

Juniper Networks has released upgrades to its MX family of edge routers that enable operators to double per-slot bandwidth and switching capacity on a number of popular models without swapping hardware. Some observers view the enhancements to the MX Series 3D Universal Edge Router family as a reminder of the scalability and continued relevance of hardware-based solutions in an industry that is increasingly enamored of software-defined networking.
