Mass. schools use sailing to teach math

Some schools in New Bedford, Mass., have partnered with a community program that uses sailing to teach geometry and other math concepts. In a recent lesson, instructors used a sailing maneuver called tacking to illustrate how to calculate speed and distance. Another lesson involved determining how long it takes marine debris to decompose.
