MRSA prevalence at admission tied to acquisition rate

Higher rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus at admission were associated with greater acquisition rates, according to a study in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases. Researchers measured and analyzed MRSA admission prevalence, acquisition rates and incident nosocomial clinical culture rates among acute care patients at 112 Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.
