NYC considers tightening regulations for tanning salons

New York City officials proposed that the city be responsible for enforcing a state law barring minors younger than 17 from tanning salons, giving city inspectors authority over unlicensed salons and requiring training for operators of ultraviolet ray-emitting equipment. The city would also launch a public health campaign to educate the public about health risks from overexposure to UV radiation.
