Promotions, praise are rare at Amazon

Common complaints among Amazon workers involve the lack of receiving positive feedback or promotions offered at the company, writes Brad Stone, author of "The Everything Store." CEO Jeff Bezos believes only exceptional talent should progress. The company uses biannual review meetings where managers argue the strengths and weaknesses of each employee, approve promotions and target bad performers who need to be fired, he writes.
