Florida to slash workers' comp rate in 2009

Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty expects businesses to save more than $610 million as a result of his ordered 18.6% decrease in workers' compensation charges. The cut exceeds the 14.1% reduction supported by the National Council on Compensation Insurers, which manages the rates for hundreds of workers' comp providers in the state.
