Sept. manufacturing production lower than expected

Industrial production declined in September more than economists had expected. Output at factories, utilities and mines was 2.8% lower than in August, and, in that month, it had dropped 1%. It is the largest decline in industrial production since December 1974. Recent hurricanes and a slowing economy were blamed.
