Army Corps of Engineers launches $2B solar power project

The first phase of a sprawling 500-megawatt solar power project, located at the Army's largest training range in California's Mojave Desert, got under way Thursday. The Army Corps of Engineers has tapped ACCIONA Solar Power, a unit of Spain's Acciona SA, and Clark Energy Group to develop the 13-year, $2 billion project at Fort Irwin's sprawling desert complex.
