CPI, unemployment, manufacturing data point to recovery

Jobless claims, the Consumer Price Index and a manufacturing report suggest the country is easing into a steady, inflation-free recovery. Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell last week to their lowest level in nine months. The Consumer Price Index rose 0.2% last month. "Skeptics of the recovery found no friendly economic indicators today," said Bernard Baumohl, chief global economist at The Economic Outlook Group.
