DOT secretary praises plan for Minnesota transport hub

The $237.5 million conversion of the Union Depot in St. Paul, Minn., into a transport hub that will connect high-speed and light rail will boost the area's economy and help promote multimodal transportation, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said. "The days of just funding highways, doing all these things individually, really are gone. The idea of multimodal, the idea of bringing people together in what will become an economic engine for the Twin Cities, is really a new direction for the Department of Transportation," LaHood said.
