Florida board approves Everglades canal repair project

The South Florida Water Management District board on Thursday approved a $44 million first phase of an Everglades restoration project that will repair damage caused by a canal dug for barges that carried equipment to Cape Canaveral. The first phase of the project will help control the volume of water carried by the canal. Work is expected to start later this year.
