Lawsuit alleges Calif. failed to weigh risks of hydraulic fracturing

California regulators haven't assessed the potential health and environmental risks of hydraulic fracturing and are in violation of the law, a group of environmentalists said in a lawsuit. An industry group, however, said California has properly regulated oil and natural gas operations. Regulators said they have already begun to address the "gap between the requirements placed on oil and gas operators to safely construct and maintain their wells, and the information they provide" to state officials.
