More viewers are turning to cable first for prime-time shows

The viewer-preference gulf between cable networks and broadcast for prime-time shows is growing. An online survey by GfK shows that 85% of 18- to 49-year-old viewers mentioned a cable network among their top three channel choices this year. That's up from 80% in 2008. Only 42% of viewers mentioned a broadcast channel, down from 49% four years ago.
