Calif. seeking qualified bidders for 60-mile stretch of high-speed rail line

Bids are being sought for an estimated $1.5 billion to $2 billion contract for construction of a 60-mile segment of California's high-speed rail project, according to the California High-Speed Rail Authority. The HSR project's second phase is expected to provide a number of benefits, including economic and job growth, said CHSRA CEO Jeff Morales. "High-speed rail is a critical investment in California's transportation infrastructure to address population growth, congested roads and airports and air quality," Morales said.
