Bathrooms account for about 60% of the average commercial facility's water use, writes Klaus Reichardt. That makes installing high-efficiency toilets and faucets a key first step for companies that want to reduce water consumption. "The return on investment of new equipment, fixtures, and other water-related items can also be calculated over the lifetime of a water efficiency project, and includes such things as reduced maintenance, water, sewer, and related energy costs," Reichardt writes.
