Fuel-solar cell device uses wastewater to produce hydrogen fuel

Sunlight and wastewater are brought together in a new combination of microbial fuel cell and solar cell to produce hydrogen gas that can be used as fuel. The development team at the University of California at Santa Cruz now plans to scale up the small device to a 10.5-gallon prototype. If that works, they will then test it with municipal wastewater.
