Government efforts to cut IT costs may be exceeding efficiency gains, report says

Technology spending by the U.S. government is on track to drop more than 12% next year from 2010 levels, even as the private sector boosts its investments in IT products and services, forecasts show. According to the TechAmerica Foundation, the decline in spending is not only a function of political realities such as sequestration but also of overly confident cost-cutting measures that are taking a toll on agencies and the vendors that serve them.
