London institutions get major RQFII quota

In an agreement struck between China and the U.K., London financial institutions will be granted 80 billion yuan in renminbi-qualified foreign institutional investor quotas. However, some analysts played down the implications. "The offshore RMB pool in London is still very shallow now, and most of this money comes from trade financing," said Chi Lo, Greater China senior strategist at BNP Paribas.
